We celebrate teachers that are innovators, risk takers and blue sky thinkers and who embed our Big IDEAs in their teaching and lessons. Teaching should be a fun and exhilarating experience, which enables teachers to develop their craft further, not restrictive and pigeon holed.
We regularly celebrate outstanding practice based on evidence from Ethos Walks, this is shared at staff briefings.
We are mindful of the work life balance of teachers and actively promote appropriate levels of feedback and marking as policy.
Our Academy is structured in a way that demonstrates transparent roles of responsibility. Staff know who to make referrals to and who to speak to when raising concerns.
Every teacher works within a Faculty, ensuring that teachers have close support and regular contact with colleagues to disseminate information, standardise assessment and share good ideas.
As part of a Multi-Academy Trust, our teachers are able to collaborate, share resources and ideas across the group. All subject teachers will have a link with who they can connect and share outside of our Academy.
Our Academy is an improving Academy because of this collaboration and the staff who give 100%. Our teachers enjoy and are proud to work at our Academy. In our last Staff Survey, 97% of staff were proud to be an employee at WAN.
Making use of New Technologies
New technologies are continuously being introduced at our Academy to support teaching and learning and to make learning fun. This year we have introduced Clevertouch screens to replace the traditional white boards.
Training and CPD
Helping our staff grow is extremely important to us and we offer a range of training and CPD opportunities to support our teachers’ development.
Professional Development is in place on a variety of tiers; all staff have access to an extensive range of online Core training, Induction, PREVENT and Safeguarding training.
A full mentoring and training programme is in place for NQTs. NQTs will continue to be supported by mentors as a NQT +1.
Half termly Staff Development sessions provide collaboration and showcase opportunities for all staff and ensure everyone understand where our Academy is going.
Subject based Multi Academy Trust training days allow for training, standardisation and collaboration with other subject specialist across the group.
Teaching and Learning Multi Academy Trust training days facilitate staff to access a wide range of workshops related to their identified areas if development.
Teachers looking to take the next step in their career are encouraged to attend Norfolk Teacher Training College courses for Emerging Leaders, Aspiring Leaders or Developing Leaders.
External training is accessed through PiXL for Subject Leaders in London.
All training is booked centrally to allow staff to track their own progress and ensure they remain updated.
Comprehensive and transparent appraisals are completed online, these support staff to continue to develop their practice and access training as required. Mid-Year reviews ensure that all parties are supported throughout the year.
